Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Offro (offro.ca), operated by VinSight Inc. ("we", "us"). By using Offro, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

1. What Offro does

Offro gives free estimates of what a used vehicle is worth in Canada, and lets you ask us to act on them: an instant cash offer (Quebec only), a firm offer after review, selling the vehicle for you (consignment), offers from participating dealers, monthly value tracking, and lien and history checks.

2. Estimates are not offers

The values Offro shows ("what a dealer would offer", "selling it yourself", "what dealers list it for") are estimates. They are produced automatically from the information you enter and from market data. They are not an offer to buy, an appraisal, or a guarantee of any price. Real prices depend on the actual vehicle, its history and the market on the day of sale.

3. Cash offers

• An instant cash offer is shown only for some vehicles, only in Quebec, and only when our model is confident.
• It is conditional. Before any sale, we inspect the vehicle and verify its identity (VIN), ownership, liens, kilometres, condition and accident history. If what we find differs from what you entered, we may change or withdraw the offer.
• It is valid for 7 days, unless we state otherwise in writing.
• The buyer is VinSight Inc. or a licensed dealer we designate, named in the written purchase agreement. The sale happens only when both parties sign that agreement. You are never obliged to sell.
• Any lien is paid from the sale price. If the lien is higher than the price, you pay the difference before the sale closes.

4. Firm offers within 24 hours

When we cannot show an instant offer, a person reviews your request and, where possible, sends a firm offer, usually within 24 hours. Section 3 applies to that offer.

5. "Sell it for me" (consignment)

Outside Quebec, or when you choose it, we can arrange the sale of your vehicle for you through a licensed dealer partner. You keep ownership until the vehicle is sold. Fees, minimum price and all other terms are set in a separate written consignment agreement, which you sign before anything happens.

6. Offers from dealers

If you tick "Get offers from dealers", we pass your request to participating dealers. Each dealer is an independent business. Any offer or sale between you and a dealer is between you and that dealer, under that dealer's terms.

7. Liens and history

If you ask for a lien search or a history report, we obtain it from public registries or third-party providers. We tell you any cost before you pay. We are not responsible for errors in third-party records.

8. Your information

You agree to give accurate information. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. It is part of these terms.

9. Acceptable use

You may not:

• use automated tools (scrapers, bots, crawlers) to access or copy Offro's values, pages or data;
• resell, republish or build a product from Offro's values;
• enter information about a vehicle you are not authorized to sell or ask about, or another person's contact details;
• interfere with the site's security or operation.

We may block access that breaks these rules.

10. Intellectual property

Offro's content, values, design and software belong to VinSight Inc. or its licensors. You may use the values for your own personal decision about your own vehicle.

11. Liability

We provide Offro "as is". We do our best to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that any estimate is correct or that the site is always available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for decisions made on the basis of an estimate. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Quebec Consumer Protection Act or other consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The version posted here, with its date, applies from that date. Changes do not affect a purchase or consignment agreement already signed.

13. Law and language

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The French version of these terms was presented first. In case of difference, the French version prevails.
